30-06-2024
On June 29, 2024, a celebration dedicated to the termination of the school year was held at the parish school at the Dormition Cathedral in London.
After the Divine Liturgy, which was headed by His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, assisted by the clergy of the church, a moleben was served for the end of the school year. Students, their parents, and school teachers prayed at the moleben. Liturgical chants were performed by a children's choir of students under the direction of M.V. Bezmenova-Nikolau.
After the moleben, a solemn event summing up the results of the 2023-2024 academic year was held in the cathedral hall.
His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh and the school’s confessor, Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, took part in the celebration.
School director E.N. Poplavskaya recalled the main events of the past academic year, noting that the past year was full of important events: participation in the international conference of schools promoting the Russian language for children living in foreign countries (Casablanca, Morocco); participation in the First All-British Pedagogical Conference of Russian Language Teachers; holding the Christmas and Easter celebrations; holding an exhibition of children's drawings dedicated to the birthday of the Holy Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna; celebrating the Day of Slavic Literature and Culture; celebration of the 225th anniversary of the birth of A.S. Pushkin; participation in pilgrimage trips to the holy places of Great Britain.
Bishop Matthew, warmly thanking teachers, parents' committee and students for their successful work and studies, presented certificates to the exhibition participants and presented books to the young singers of the church choir. Members of the parents committee were presented with memorable gifts.
As part of the event, a children's concert was held.
At the end, the premiere of the plasticine cartoon “How the Little Hare Searched for God”, created by students of the parochial school with the support of teachers and parents, took place. The cartoon was warmly received by the audience.
The celebration ended with a traditional picnic in the open air.
