« A pilgrimage took place to Holywell, to the spring of the holy martyr Winifred of Trefynnon (+630) »

On September 3, 2023, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the annual pilgrimage of the clergy and parishioners of the diocesan district of Northern England and Wales of the Diocese of Sourozh to Holywell, to the spring of the holy martyr Winifred of Trefynnon (+630), took place.
After the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Intercession in Manchester, which was celebrated by Priest Anatoly Vikhrov, the pilgrims headed to North Wales. Upon arrival to Holywell, a water blessing moleben was served at the spring of St. Winifred. A group of pilgrims led by Hegumen Deiniol (Davies), Rector of the Church of All Saints of Wales in Blaenau Ffestiniog, also joined the service.
At the end of the moleben, those present venerated a piece of the holy relics of the holy martyr Winifred, which is kept in a reliquary in the Catholic church of the same name, located near the spring.
After plunging into the waters of the holy spring, the pilgrims shared a meal in a picturesque place near the ruins of the ancient Basingwerk monastery, founded in the 12th century, which is one of the shrines of the North Wales Pilgrim's Way.
