« A meeting of the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Sourozh was held »

On December 27, 2018, a meeting of the Diocesan Council, chaired by His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, was held at the Dormition Cathedral in the city of London.

The first Council meeting, following its elections at the Diocesan Assembly of the Diocese of Sourozh, was attended by Archpriest Stephen Platt, Dean of the Diocesan District of Central England, Archpriest Michail Nasonov, Dean of the Diocesan District of Republic of Ireland , Archpriest Joseph Skinner, Dean of the Diocesan District of South West England and Priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern England and Wales.

Opening the meeting, Vladyka Matthew congratulated the participants with beginning of fruitful works for the benefit of the Church of Christ and the Diocese of Sourozh in particular, reported on new Synodal appointments and informed them on the Diocese statistical data.

The meeting discussed issues related to the organization of effective work of deaneries, requirements for educational qualifications of candidates for ordination to priesthood, issues related to the adherence to the Orthodoxy of non-Christian and non-Orthodox persons, organization of the Annual Diocesan Conference, work of the Diocesan Liturgical Commission as well as other current issues of the Diocese’s life.
