« Bishop Matthew made an archpastoral visit to the Church of the Intercession in Manchester »

On September 8, 2024, on the 11th Sunday after Pentecost, the feast of the Meeting of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God (the feast was established in memory of the salvation of Moscow from the invasion of an invasion of Tatars led by Khan Makhmet-Girei in 1395), His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh made an archpastoral visit to the diocesan district of Northern England and celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in Manchester.
His Grace was assisted by Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of Northern England, Deputy Dean of the Church of the Intercession in Manchester, Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, cleric of the church, Priest Anatoly Vikhrov, and cleric of the Dormition Cathedral in London, Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the choir of the Church of the Intercession under the direction of Apollinaria Postlethwaite.
After the augmented litany, the Archpastor recited a prayer for the granting of peace.
At the verse after communion, Bishop Matthew granted the right to wear the cassock to the altar servant Serafim Johnson.
After the prayer after the communion, His Grace and the clergy performed a prayerful glorification in front of the image of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God and a moleben before the beginning of the school year.
On behalf of the clergy, the church council and the parishioners of the Intercession Church, Bishop Matthew was warmly greeted by the sacristan of the church, Archpriest Dmitry Nedostupenko. In his response, the Archpastor thanked the clergy and parishioners for their joint prayers and addressed those present with a word of spiritual edification. The simultaneous translation of the sermon into English was carried out by protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch. With the blessing of Vladyka, icons were distributed to all participants in the divine service.
Communication with the Archpastor continued over a meal prepared by the parish community.
After the meal, Bishop Matthew held a working meeting with the parish activists.
