« Bishop Matthew of Sourozh visited the grave of Marianne Greenan and the site of the murder of children in Southport »

On September 6, 2024, while on an archpastoral visit to the Diocesan District of Wales, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh visited the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Cemetery in the village of Einsdel, located near Southport.

The Archpastor served a funeral litany at the grave of the long-time church warden of the Church of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary in Manchester, Marianne Emma Anna-Maria Greenan, who departed to the Lord on May 15, 2024 after a long illness, at the age of 88.

After the cemetery, Bishop Matthew laid flowers at the site of the murder of children in the dance club "Hart Space" in Southport.  The tragedy that occurred on July 24, 2024, took the lives of three girls aged 6, 7 and 9, six more children and two adults were seriously injured, and three children were moderately injured.
