« Orthodox Liturgy celebrated in Oxford at the tomb of St. Frideswide, Abbess of Oxford »

On October 31, 2024, on the eve of the day of the repose of St. Frideswide, Abbess of Oxford (+19 October/1 November 735), Dean of the diocesan district of Central England of the Sourozh Diocese, Rector of the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Oxford, Archpriest Stephen Platt celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the tomb of the heavenly patroness of Oxford.
Traditionally, on the eve of the feast day of St. Frideswide, an Orthodox Liturgy is celebrated annually at her tomb in the ancient Cathedral of Christ the Savior (Christ Church Cathedral), the foundation of which dates back to 1122. The divine services are being held with the participation of the clergy and parishioners of the Oxford parish of the Diocese of Sourozh. Pilgrims from various cities of Great Britain and from abroad also attend the service.
Later that day, Archpriest Stephen Platt took part in a meeting with His Beatitude Theophilus III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, who is in Oxford on a private visit.
