On May 6, 2023, on the feast day of the Saint Great Martyr George the Victorious, the feast of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated at the Dormition Cathedral in London.
With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, celebrated the divine service togerher with Priest Vasily Gandzyuk and Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
Liturgical hymns were performed by the choir of the cathedral under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov.
After the augmented litany, a prayer for peace was proclaimed.
After the dismissal of the Liturgy, Father Dimitry addressed the parishioners with words of a sermon on the theme of the feast.
On this day, the coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla took place in Westminster Abbey in London.
The previous coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place exactly 70 years ago in the last century. Charles III became the fortieth crowned monarch in Westminster Abbey, and the first ascension to the throne in Britain took place in 1066.
With the blessing of the Rector of the church, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, in commemoration of the epochal event, the parishioners and visitors of the Dormition Cathedral were offered tea and sweet treats.
