Beloved in the Lord, fellow archpastors and pastors,
brothers and sisters!
Christ is Risen!
The Pascha of Christ is the triumph of Love.
“We have known and believed the love that God hath to us”, Apostle John writes (1 John 4:16). We have believed for good and all, in its entirety, because we got convinced by experience that the Love of God is all-powerful and limitless.
It was said in the Old Testament that love is as strong as death. And in the New Testament, it is stronger than death because “death is swallowed up in victory” (1 Cor. 15:54).
And on this holy night of Easter, I would like to make a very simple appeal to all of you - let us know this love, keep it among ourselves, let us be its witnesses in this world that is increasingly struck by indifference and insensitivity.
Let us resist insane and criminal attempts to settle hatred and enmity between individuals, between peoples, and preserve the ability to love, forgive, and trust each other.
If we do not have an inner flame, if our hearts do not burn, if we do not have love, then what is the meaning of our ministry, our mission, our stay in various countries, cities and towns of Western Europe?
“If the salt have lost his savour, men cast it out (Lk. 14:35).
May the Risen Lord give us all the strength and wisdom to preserve holy Orthodoxy, to preserve our Church, our dioceses, monasteries, parishes and communities in the spirit of love, unity and peace.
