On Sunday, 3rd July, St Nicholas Orthodox parish in Oxford of the Diocese of Sourozh was celebrated the Feast of All Saints of these Islands – the saints glorified in the British Isles and Ireland since the apostles and missionaries who preached the Gospel here from the earliest times.
After the festive Divine Liturgy, a parish picnic was held in the nearby University Parks. This was a joyful opportunity to welcome new arrivals, including a large number of the refugees living in and around Oxford who have found a spiritual home in our community.
Later in the afternoon, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Souzrozh, Rector of St Nicholas church in Oxford archpriest Stephen Platt served a molieben to the Saints of Britain at St Aloysius Catholic Church, where a shrine containing relics of many of the earliest British saints are kept.
At the end of the service, the faithful were able to venerate the holy relics.
