« On the eve of the 4th Sunday of the Great Lent, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the All-Night Vigil at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Bogorodskoye, Moscow »

On April 2, 2022, on the eve of the 4th Sunday of the Great Lent, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the All-Night Vigil at the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Bogorodskoye, Moscow.
His Grace was assisted by Rector Archpriest Damian Kruglik and clergy of the church: priest Mikhail Volkov, priest Andrei Tikhonov and deacon Sergiy Kuznetsov.
From the history of the Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Bogorodskoye:
On August 17, 1880, with the blessing of Metropolitan Macarius (Bulgakov) of Moscow, the church was consecrated by His Grace Ambrose (Klyucharev), Bishop of Dmitrovsky.
At first, the church did not have its own clergy and was attached to the church of Elijah the Prophet in Cherkizovo.  In 1891, the first Rector, archpriest Alexander Kolychev, was appointed to the church.
In 1897-98, two side chapels were added to the church: the right one dedicated to the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, and the left one - in honor of St.Alexis and the Prophet Elijah.
During the years of mass closure and destruction of churches, the church survived thanks to the workers of the Krasny Bogatyr plant.  There is evidence that they were on duty day and night to protect their church.
The names of two saints of the 20th century are associated with the church.
There are records that in 1922 St. Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, served in the church.
Another saint is the venerable martyr Hermogena (Kadomtseva).  From 1931 to 1937, nun Hermogena worked as a cleaner in the church.  In 1937, she was sentenced to ten years in Oneglag, where she died on June 10, 1942, and was buried in an unknown grave.  Memory day of martyr Hermogena is June 10.
In 1954, there was a strong fire, almost all the interior decoration of the church burned out.  The Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God and the image of St. Nicholas have been miraculously preserved.  In 1957, the Rector of the church, Archimandrite Sergius (Savelyev), began to selebrate evening divine services on Tuesdays with the singing of an akathist to the Mother of God in front of the Tikhvin Icon. This tradition continues to this day.
