« Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Oxford was attacked »

In the early morning of March 12, 2022, the church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Oxford of the Sourozh diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Great Britain and Ireland was attacked.
Having broken into the church, the attackers desecrated the holy objects, scattered church utensils in the altar, stole money by breaking into church donations mugs and a safe containing a large amount of money collected by parishioners of the church for the needs of refugees from Ukraine. The altar cross and pectoral priest cross were also stolen, as well as particles of holy relics.
His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh called the incident an act of vandalism deliberately directed against Orthodox believers in the United Kingdom, who are mostly British citizens.
The damage is currently being assessed. Oxford Police are investigating.
