His Grace was assisted by priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern England and Wales and Rector of the church, priest Victor Akhryapin, cleric of the church, and protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
At the litany for the departed, prayers were raised for the ever-memorable His Holiness Alexy II, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, who died on December 5, 2008 at the age of 80.
Upon the dismissal of the Liturgy, Father Dimitry warmly thanked His Grace Vladyka for his archpastoral visit and the opportunity to pray together with his bishop, and, as a sign of gratitude, presented Vladyka with a bouquet of flowers.
Then Vladyka Matthew addressed the clergy and parishioners with words of spiritual edification, especially noting the upcoming feast of the Holy Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, whose memory is celebrated the next day, on Monday, December 6. The Right Reverend Vladyka congratulated the communicants of the Holy Mysteries of Christ and gave everyone his archpastoral blessing
After the service, Vladyka Matthew talked with the clergy and parishioners at a common meal.
