On December 4, 2021, on the feast of the Entry into the Temple of Most Holy Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Liturgy in the parish of Saints Equal to the Apostles Constantine and Helena in York.
His Grace was assisted by priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern England and Wales and Rector of the parish, priest Anatoly Vikhrov, Rector of the parishes of Saint Blessed Xenia of St.Peterburg in Leeds and of the Meeting of the Lord in Bradford, protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch and deacon Paul Wood.
The liturgical hymns were performed by the choir under the direction of the choir master Maximus Bryan.
The Divine Liturgy was attended by parishioners from York, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Kingston-upon-Hull and other localities of the North England Deanery.
Upon the dismissal of the Liturgy, Father Dimitry warmly greeted His Grace and thanked him for the opportunity to pray together and communicate with his Archpastor, and, as a sign of gratitude, presented Vladyka Matthew with a bouquet of flowers and a memorable gift.
In turn, His Grace Vladyka addressed the clergy and parishioners with words of a sermon and spiritual edification.
Marking many years of ministry for the benefit of the Russian Orthodox Church, deacon Paul Wood was awarded Patriarchal award - a medal "In Commemoration of the 100th Anniversary of the Restoration of the Patriarchate in the Russian Orthodox Church."
After the divine service, during the meal, Vladyka Matthew talked with the clergy and parishioners.
