On October 28, 2021, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, paid a fraternal visit to the Primate of the Archdiocese of Canada of the Orthodox Church in America, Archbishop Irénée of Ottawa and Canada.
The meeting took place in the diocesan administration office of the Canadian Diocese of the OCA, on the territory of the Transfiguration Skit in Rawdon, located in a picturesque forest foothill, 50 kilometers north of Montreal, the largest city in the province of Quebec, Canada.
Archbishop Irénée made a tour for Vladyka Matthew of churches and relics of the skit, told him the history of the development of the monastic community. After that, the Archpastors discussed issues of spiritual cooperation between the Patriarchal Parishes in Canada and the Canadian Archdiocese of the OCA. The meeting was attended by the clergy of the Canadian Archdiocese: archpriest Anatoliy Melnyk, hieromonk Serafim (Tregubov), deacon Denis Letunovsky and personal secretary of Bishop Matthew N.V. Trubnikov.
The skit church of St. Seraphim of Sarov has a particle of the relics of St. Seraphim, which was brought from Russia by Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna Romanova (1882-1960), the youngest daughter of Emperor Alexander III Alexandrovich and Empress Maria Feodorovna, and subsequently given to Archbishop Sylvester of Montreal and Canada (1914-2000). There is an old Russian cemetery on the territory of the skit.
