On Monday, 26 October, on the day of the celebration of the Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, Metropolitan Anthony of Korsun and Western Europe, Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Trinity Cathedral in Paris.
Today marks five years since the episcopal ordination of His Eminence. On October 26, 2015, Metropolitan Anthony was ordained Bishop of Bogorodsk. The consecration in the Mother of God of Smolensk Novodevichy Convent in Moscow was headed by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
The Archpastor was assisted by the Secretary of the Korsun diocesan administration, priest Maxim Politov, Rector of the St.Seraphim church in Montgeron, Hieromonk Nikodim (Pavlinchuk), clerics of the cathedral: Priest Georgy Sheshko, Priest Sergiy Kim, Protodeacon Nikolai Rebinder, Deacon Roman Onika and Deacon Anthony Sidenko.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to France A.Yu. Meshkov, Counselor-Envoy of the Embassy of the Russian Federation for Cultural cooperation L.Yu. Kadyshev, representatives of the Russian diplomatic mission, parishioners and guests of the church prayed at the divine service.
The liturgical hymns were sung by the hierarchical choir under the direction of M. Politova.
At the augmented litany, the Patriarchal Exarch offered up prayers to stop the spread of the harmful epidemic.
At the end of the Liturgy, Metropolitan Anthony addressed the audience with an archpastoral speech, in which he congratulated everyone with the day of honoring the Iveron Icon of the Most Holy Mother of God, and, in fulfillment of the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, presented to the Counselor of the Embassy in the rank of attaché E.A. Kopylov's medal "Patriarchal gratitude". The Russian diplomat was awarded the high church award "in consideration of his assistance to the Korsun Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church."
Then, on behalf of the clergy of the diocese and the Cathedral, the Secretary of the Korsun diocesan administration, priest Maxim Politov, addressed the Archpastor, congratulating the Patriarchal Exarch with the 5th anniversary of his episcopal consecration and presented him a memorial panagia with the image of the Korsun Icon of the Mother of God and a donative engraving on the back.
In addition, Vladyka Anthony received a bouquet of flowers on behalf of Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, clergy and flock of the Sourozh Diocese.
