On September 14, 2019, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, a moleben, dedicated to the beginning of the new academic year, was served at the Dormition Cathedral in the city of London.
The moleben was served by Priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, he was assisted by Deacon Victor Nikiforov.
The communal prayer brought together teachers and students of the Cathedral's parish school, students of different London's schools, students and teachers of London universities.
A festive opening of classes took place in the building of the Marlborough School, where the lessons of the parish school are held, at which Fr. Dimitry, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, and E.N. Poplavskaya, principal of the school, welcomed the audience on behalf of Vladyka Matthew. Father Dimitry has warmly congratulated the school's teachers and students with the start of classes, wishing them creative success in the upcoming new academic year.
E.N. Poplavskaya talked about the structure of the school, the disciplines taught and introduced the school's teachers.
As part of the event, a video clip of a play, previously staged by students and teachers of the school, and dedicated to Equal-to-the-Apostles Princess Olga, was demonstrated to the audience, as this year the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the 1050th anniversary of her passing away.
Introductory lessons were held in all classes, during which students were able to get to know better each other and their class teachers.
Classes are held every Saturday at Marlborough Primary School, Draycott Ave, Chelsea, London SW3 3AP.
