« Bishop Matthew of Sourozh took part in the next meeting of the Holy Synod »

On October 29, 2019, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia headed the next meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church at the Patriarchal and Synodal residence in the Danilov Monastery in Moscow.
The meeting was attended by permanent members of the Holy Synod: Metropolitan Yuvenaly of Krutitsk and Kolomna ;  Metropolitan Vladimir of Chisinau and All Moldova;  Metropolitan Alexander of Astana and Kazakhstan, Head of the Metropolitan District of the Republic of Kazakhstan;  Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan, Head of the Central Asian Metropolitan District;  Metropolitan Barsanuphius of St. Petersburg and Ladoga ;  Metropolitan Pavel of Minsk and Zaslavsk, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus;  Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, as well as archpastors invited to participate in the winter session of the Holy Synod: Metropolitan Kornilii of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogorsk, Metropolitan Gregory of Chelyabinsk and Miass, Metropolitan Dimitri of Chita and Petrovsk-Zabaykalsky, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada.
The Holy Synod granted the request of His Grace Metropolitan Savva of Tver and Kashinsk to relieve him of his duties as Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate, expressing to him gratitude for the work he had done.  Bishop Dionysius of Voskresensk has been appointed the Chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate and a permanent member of the Holy Synod.
The Holy Synod has also adopted a number of other decisions of general church significance.
