« Archbishop Elisey led festive celebrations on the Parish Patronal Festival of the London Dormition Cathedral »

On 28 August, on the parish patronal festival of the Dormition of the Mother of God, the festive church service took place in the small church of the London Dormition Cathedral.

Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh directed the Divine Liturgy together with Archbishop Anatoliy, the vicar of the Sourozh Diocese, the clergy of the Cathedral and the diocese.

After the liturgy, the festive prayers and procession took place at the square in front of the Cathedral then proceeding to the main church in the Cathedral, where restoration works are still in progress. The parishioners noticed that unique sgraffito frescoes were renovated under the arches of the church and that stained glass windows and mosaic of the Crucifixion of Christ over the apse were restored. During the singing of the Dormition hymn “O ye apostles from the ends of the earth”, Archbishop Elisey blessed with the holy water the interiors of the Cathedral’s main church.

In his greeting to the congregation, Archbishop Elisey noted that the main church of the Dormition Cathedral is going to open for Christmas for the first service after all refurbishment works.
