« The Cathedral bids farewell to Archpriest Maxim Mitrofanov »

On Sunday 17th August, Archpriest Maxim Mitrofanov celebrated his last service as a priest of the London Cathedral. He is returning to Russia after seven years in England to take up an appointment as Dean of a Cathedral and Rector of a seminary.

In his address after the Liturgy, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh noted the bonds of affection that had developed between Fr Maxim and the clergy and parishioners of the Cathedral over the years of his service in the Diocese of Sourozh. Vladyka remarked that whilst we were sad to say goodbye to Fr Maxim, we wished that his response to the call to serve the Church in his homeland in these responsible positions would bear much fruit.
'Many Years' was sung for Fr Maxim and many parishioners came to express personally their gratitude to him and good wishes for his future service.
