« The Great Holy Relic, fragment of the Holy Cross of the Lord, visited Oxford »

On Tuesday 10th December 2013 a part of the wood of the Holy Cross of Christ, which has been brought to England from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, arrived in Oxford.

At around 4 pm the Precious Cross arrived at the Orthodox Church of St Nicholas the Wonderworker from the Orthodox Church of the Holy Trinity and the Annunciation. A service of intercession with the Akathist to the Passion of Christ was served before the holy relic.  The service was celebrated by the rector, Archpriest Stephen Platt together with Hieromonk Tikhon (Vasiliev), Priest Timothy Curtis and Deacon James Burns. More than 200 people attended the service and venerated the Precious Cross which remained in the church for veneration by the faithful until the early evening.
