From 17th to 31st of July, a chest with parts of the relics of Holy Martyrs Grand Duchess Elizabeth and nun Barbara was present in the Cathedral. The relics were brought to the Cathedral from the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad in Chiswick on the 17th of July, which is the day of remembrance of the Royal martyrs. The believers have already had an opportunity to venerate the holy relics on the 27th of June, when they were brought to the Cathedral for a short period of time, and now they have been kept there for much longer. Thousands of believers had have an opportunity to venerate the relics.
On the 18th of July, when the Russian Orthodox Church celebrates the memory of the righteous martyrs Elizabeth and Varvara, a divine Liturgy, which was followed by the Moleben, was celebrated in front of the relics by the Bishop Elisey of Sourozh together with the clergy of the Diocese of Sourozh . Among those present at the Liturgy were V. Fedotov, the Russian Ambassador to the Great Britain, and senior representatives of the Anglican and Catholic Churches.
During the time when the relics were present in the Cathedral, Akathist to the Righteous Martyrs was regularly read with the participation of a large numbers of believers.
