« Pilgrimage to the St. John the Baptist monastery in Essex »

On the 20th of June a traditional pilgrimage to the St. John the Baptist monastery in Essex took place. It was organized for the pupils of the parish church school and parishioners of the London Cathedral. More than 50 people, together with priest Maxim Mitrofanov, the cleric of the Cathedral, took part in the trip.

The pilgrims were hospitably met by the monastery’s brethren. A panikhida for ever memorable archimandrite Sofroniy (Sakharov) was served in the burial cript.

The monks showed the visitors the monastery’s churches and chapels and gave its historical overview. In the evening everybody prayed at the Vespers in the Saint Siluan church.

The trip left the most heartfelt memories in everyone who took part in it.
