« Bishop Matthew chaired an expanded meeting of the Diocesan Council of the Diocese of Sourozh »

On January 10, 2025, an expanded meeting of the Diocesan Council was held in the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in Manchester, chaired by Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, with the participation of the deans of the diocesan districts of the Diocese of Sourozh.

The meeting was attended by:

• Archpriest Vitaly Polischuk, Dean of the Diocesan District of South-East England;
• Hegumen Deiniol (Davies), Dean of the Diocesan District of Wales;
• Archpriest Mikhail Nasonov, Dean of the Diocesan District of the Republic of Ireland;
• Archpriest Stephen Platt, Dean of the Diocesan District of Central England;
• Archpriest Joseph Skinner, Dean of the Diocesan District of South-West England;
• Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern England;
• Archpriest Georgy Zavershinsky, Dean of the Diocesan District of Northern Ireland;
• Priest Evgeny Selensky, Acting Dean of the Diocesan District of East Anglia;
• Priest Alexander Menshikov, Dean of the Diocesan District of Scotland.

His Grace Bishop Matthew greeted those gathered and announced the agenda.

Members of the Diocesan Council sang "Eternal Memory" to Archbishop Anatoly (Kuznetsov), former vicar of the Diocese of Sourozh, who died in 2024, and to Marianne Greenan, church warden of the Church of the Intercession of the Virgin Mary in Manchester, through whose efforts the Manchester church was built.

During the meeting, reports were heard from the Right Reverend Vladyka and from the deans. The participants discussed current issues in accordance with the meeting agenda.
