On May 14, 2024, on Tuesday of the 2nd week of Easter, Radonitsa - the day of Easter remembrance of the departed, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh served a panikhida at the grave of the founder of the Sourozh diocese, Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom) at Brompton Cemetery in London.
Concelebrating with His Grace were Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, Dean of the diocesan district of South-East England, Archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk, Secretary of the Sourozh diocese, Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, clergy of the UOC temporarily staying in the territory of the Sourozh diocese, Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch and Deacon Alexander Kapustin.
Funeral chants were performed by the choir of the Dormition Cathedral in London under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov.
At the end of the panikhida, His Grace Vladyka addressed the clergy and worshipers with parting words. Translation into English was provided by Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
After the service, Bishop Matthew, Administrator of the Sourozh Diocese, warmly greeted Bishop Irenei of London and Western Europe (ROCOR), who served a panikhida at the grave of the ROCOR hierarch, Archbishop Nicodemus (Nagaev) of Richmond and Britain, who died in 1976.
