On March 16, 2024, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Deputy Dean of the Dormition Cathedral in London, held an open lesson for students of the children's Sunday school at the Cathedral, dedicated to the Day of the Orthodox Book and the 460th anniversary of the publication of the first printed book in Rus', which are celebrated on March 14.
Father Dimitry spoke about the history of the creation of church books, introduced listeners to the design of the liturgical Gospels, old and modern editions in Church Slavonic and English. During the lesson Fr. Dimitry drew attention to the works of the pioneer printer Deacon Ivan Fedorov, the first publisher of printed books in Ancient Rus': the Apostle, the Book of Hours, the Gospel, the Primer and other books that have since become widely available to the population.
At the end of the lesson, Fr. Dimitry answered questions from students and parents.
With the help of the children's parochial school, an exhibition “My Orthodox Library” was prepared in the church for the memorable anniversary.
