« Bishop Matthew meets with Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America »
On November 1, 2024, a meeting was held at the Representative Office of the Moscow Patriarchate in New York between the Interim Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the United States, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, and the Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, Archpriest Alexander Rentel.
Father Alexander greeted the hierarch on behalf of the Primate of the OCA, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, who wished him a blessed stay in the United States and success in his upcoming work. Bishop Matthew conveyed his gratitude to His Beatitude for his attention and expressed hope for a personal meeting in the near future.
Bishop Matthew and Fr. Alexander discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest, including joint services and events in 2025 dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the repose of St. Tikhon of Moscow, as well as the 55th anniversary of the granting of Autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in America.
The meeting was also attended by Acting Chancellor of the Patriarchal Parishes Abbot Nicodemus (Balyasnikov) and Vice-Chancellor, Priest Mark Rashkov.
