« Clergy of the Diocese of Sourozh took part in the annual reception of the Association of Anglican and Eastern Churches in Westminster Abbey »

On October 10, 2024, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, clergy of the Diocese of Sourozh, Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky and Archpriest Stephen Platt, took part in the annual reception of the Association of Anglican and Eastern Churches in Westminster Abbey in London.
The Association of Anglican and Eastern Churches is one of the oldest interreligious organizations in England, founded in 1864 with the aim of developing Anglican-Orthodox ties and strengthening inter-Christian dialogue.
On behalf of the Church of England, the guests were welcomed by Canon Dr James Hawkey, Chairman of the Institute of Westminster Abbey and Chaplain to King Charles III. The Chairman of the Association of Anglican and Oriental Churches, Canon Dr. William Taylor, addressed the participants of the meeting with words of gratitude. Bishop Hovakim Manukyan, Administrator of the Diocese of Great Britain and Ireland of the Armenian Apostolic Church, made a presentation on the traditions of the myrrh-making, which is performed in the Armenian Church once every seven years. Bishop Jonathan Baker of Fulham (Church of England) presented a report on the relationship between the Eastern and Western Churches. In conclusion, an announcement was made about a pilgrimage to the holy places of Constantinople, Ephesus, Chalcedon and Nicaea, which will be organized in 2025 by the Association of Anglican and Oriental Churches, timed to coincide with the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council in Nicaea.
