« A pilgrimage took place to the spring of St. Kentigern of Strathclyde in the village of Caldbeck »

On January 27, 2024, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the annual pilgrimage took place to the spring of the hierarch and wonderworker Kentigern (Mungo) of Strathclyde, Bishop of Glasgow (+614).

The pilgrimage began with the celebration of the Divine Liturgy in the ancient church of St. Kentigern, built in the 12th century and located near the holy spring, the first mention of which dates back to the 6th century.

The divine service was headed by Priest Anatoly Vikrov, Rector of the parishes of St. Xenia of St. Petersburg in Leeds, of the Presentation of the Lord in Bradford, of the Nativity of Christ in Kingston upon Hull and of Equal to the Apostles St. Constantine and St. Helen in York, who was assisted by priest Victor Akhryapin, Rector of the Church of Great Martyr St. George the Victorious in Newcastle upon Tyne and of the diocesan communities of St. Ninian of Whithorn in Carlisle and of St. Cuthbert in Durham, and priest Neil Lubchenko, Rector of the parish of St.  Kentigern of Strathclyde in Glasgow.

At the service, pilgrims from London, Manchester, Newcastle, Glasgow, Bradford, Leeds, and Irvine prayed and received the Holy Mysteries of Christ.

At the end of the Liturgy, a religious procession took place to the spring of St. Kentigern, where the water-blessing moleben was served.

Upon returning to the church, Father Anatoly addressed those present with words of a sermon, briefly spoking about the most famous moments of the life of the Saint of the undivided Church, whose memory is kept on January 13/26, and expressed hope for the continuation of pilgrimage trips to the holy spring.

At the end, all pilgrims took part in a common meal, during which they were able to communicate with the clergy.
