« Bishop Matthew of Sourozh served a litany at the coffin of the newly departed Archbishop Anatoly (Kuznetsov) at the Dormition Cathedral of the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra »

On the evening of January 27, 2024, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh arrived at the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra in Sergiev Posad.

In the Dormition Cathedral of the Lavra, at the coffin with the body of the newly departed Archbishop Anatoly (Kuznetsov), His Grace Bishop Matthew served a funeral litany and, according to the ancient liturgical tradition, took part in the reading of the Holy Gospel, which is continuously read before the start of the funeral service and burial of the deceased archpastor.

With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus', the late Archbishop Anatoly will be buried in the historical necropolis of the Moscow Theological Academy, which is located in the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra.
