On August 3, 2023, on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the repose of the founder of the Diocese of Sourozh of the Russian Orthodox Church in the British Isles, Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom), an evening divine service was celebrated at the Dormition Cathedral in London.
At the Matins, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh read the 17th kathisma from the Book of Psalms.
His Grace was assisted by Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, Dean of the Diocesan District of South-East England Archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk, Dean of the Diocesan District of South-West England Archpriest Joseph Skinner, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh Archpriest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch, clerics of the UOC temporarily staying on the territory of the Sourozh diocese.
Liturgical hymns were performed by the choir of the Dormition Cathedral in London under the direction of Dmitry Tugarinov.
After the 6th ode of the canon, a litany for the departed was said and the prayer “God rest with the saints” was sung for ever-memorable Metropolitan Anthony.
On August 4, London will host commemorative services and events dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the repose of ever-memorable Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom).
