On August 4, 2021, the day of memory of the Myrrh-Bearing Equal-to-the-Apostles Mary Magdalene (I), His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in London.
On this day, the Russian Orthodox Church commemorates the 18th anniversary of the death of Metropolitan Anthony (Bloom) of Sourozh.
The Right Reverend Archpastor was assisted by archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk and protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
At the litany for the departed and the lithya at the end of the service, petitions and prayers were proclaimed for the repose of the ever-memorable Metropolitan Anthony, the founder and creator of the Sourozh diocese.
After the dismissal of the Liturgy, His Grace Vladyka addressed the clergy and parishioners of the Cathedral with words of a sermon and spiritual edification, especially noting the life path of Metropolitan Anthony and his efforts for the good of the Church, which left a bright trace in the history of Russian Orthodoxy abroad.
On this day, the cleric of the Dormition Cathedral, archpriest Vitaly Polishchuk, celebrates his birthday.  Vladyka warmly congratulated the honored priest and presented Father Vitaly with a bouquet of flowers.
