« On the 35th Sunday after Pentecost, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in London »

On February 7, 2021, on the 35th Sunday after Pentecost, the feast of the Synaxis of New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Cathedral in London.
His Grace was assisted by the Secretary of the Sourozh  Diocese, Priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, and Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch.
During the litany for departed, His Grace Vladyka prayed for the repose of Orthodox Christians who suffered in the time of persecution for their faith in Christ.
Millions of Orthodox believers suffered for their faith in Christ being victims of the tragic period, which began in 1917 with the revolutionary events in the Russian Empire and continued throughout the existence of the USSR.  Many of the victims of the repressions of that time are now glorified by the Church in the host of the New Martyrs and Confessors of the Russian Church.  Their feat was of particular importance for the preservation of the Orthodox faith in Russia and for its subsequent spiritual revival.

The liturgical hymns were sung by the quartet under the direction of the choir director Dmitry Tugarinov.
At the end of the Liturgy, the Right Reverend Archpastor addressed the parishioners with words of a sermon and spiritual edification.
The service was broadcast live on the diocesan page Life of Sourozh on the social network Facebook.
