On January 23, 2021, on Saturday after the Epiphany, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the parish of the Nativity of Christ in Kingston-upon-Hull. With the blessing of His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, the divine service in one of the oldest churches in the city - St Mary the Virgin Church, built in the 15th century, was celebrated by the rector of the parishes of Blessed Xenia of Petersburg in the city of Leeds and of the Meeting of the Lord in the city of Bradford, Priest Anatoly Vihrov, assisted by Deacon Nil Lyubchenko.
After a long break associated with the coronavirus epidemic, Orthodox residents of Kingston-upon-Hull and its environs were able to take part in the Divine Liturgy, confess and receive the Holy Mysteries of Christ.
After the prayer before the ambo, the rite of the great blessing of water was performed, then Father Anatoly turned to those present with a sermon and congratulations with tge recent patronal feast - the Nativity of Christ.
Young parishioners received Christmas gifts - sweets prepared by an initiative group of volunteers of the Intercession Church in Manchester and children's books from the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Great Britain.
Through the efforts of the parishioners, the necessary measures were taken in the church building to comply with state quarantine norms and social distancing .
