« The Oxford parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker prayerfully commemorated the memory of the Holy Martyr Friedesfida, patron Saint of Oxford »

On November 1, 2020, memory of the Holy Martyr Frideswide, Igumenia of Oxford (+735), the parish of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker prayerfully commemorated the spiritual patroness of the city of Oxford.
After the Divine Liturgy, the Rector of the church, Dean of the Diocesan District of Central England, Archpriest Stephen Platt, together with a group of parishioners, visited the holy spring in Binsey, which miraculously appeared by the prayers of the Saint and has been famous for its healing properties for 1300 years.  Near the holy spring there is Church of St. Margaret (Marina of Antioch), which was built in the 12th century on the site of the cell of Martyr Frideswide, in which she leaved for many years.
A water blessing moleben was served at the site of the spring, after which Father Stephen blessed the pilgrims with the holy water.
