On Thursday 6th June, the feast of the Ascension of the Lord, the Parish of Saint Nicholas in Oxford was blessed by a visit of a casket containing particles of relics of the Saints of Diveyevo - Venerable Seraphim of Sarov, Venerable Alexandra, Venerable Martha, Venerable Helen, Venerable Matrona, Blessed Pelagia, Blessed Paraskeva, Blessed Maria and a particle of the stone of St. Seraphim of Sarov. The relics have been brought to Great Britain from the Holy Trinity St. Seraphim-Diveevo monastery, Russia, to visit the annual conference of the Diocese of Sourozh.
At the end of the Divine Liturgy, a magnification was sung before the holy relics, and a prayer offered to the saints of Diveyevo, asking for their prayerful intercession before God.
Father Stephen Platt, rector of the parish, on behalf of all present gave deep thanks to Archpriest Igor Borisov and the sisters who had accompanied him, for visiting and giving the opportunity for the local faithful to venerate the relics of such well-loved saints. In reply, Fr Igor spoke of the witness of the Diveyevo saints, and presented an icon of the saints to the church in memory of the visit.
After a common meal for all present, the visitors were taken on a tour of the main holy places and historical sites of Oxford.
