« Representatives of the Diocese of Sourozh took part in the conference of the Council of the Russian-speaking community of Great Britain »

On May 25, 2019, a conference of the Council of the Russian-speaking community of Great Britain was held at the Russian Embassy in London.
During the conference elections of the chairman and trustees were held.
I.Volodine, temporary charge d'affaires of Russia in the UK, Y. Mishcheryakov, Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation ; K. Shlykov, representative of the Government Commission on the Affairs of Compatriots Abroad, Advisor of the Department for Work with Compatriots of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia ;  S. Kuznetsova, member of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation, D. Fedotov, representative of the Foundation for the Support and Protection of the Rights of Compatriots Living Abroad ;  O.Sotnichenko, Chairman of the Council of the Russian-speaking community of Great Britain, A.Chesnokov, Head of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in the UK,  as well as representatives from compatriots' organizations addressed the participants and guests of the conference.
S. Tochilin, official representative of the Sourozh Diocese in the Council of the Russian-speaking community of Great Britain and Northern Ireland , K. Polyakova, churchwarden of the parish of St Xenia of St.Petersburg in Leeds , and V. Sorokina, churchwarden of the Nativity of Christ parish in Kingston-upon-Hull, took part in the conference.
The conference summed up the work of the Council in 2018-2019, discussed in detail the development of the activities of compatriots' organizations - members of the Council, and their further integration into the British legal field.  The conference has also discussed rights of compatriots, involvement of young people in the work of the organization, preservation of the Russian heritage, popularization of the Russian language and culture, coverage of the Council activities and strengthening of Russia's positive image in the UK.
During the event, “Working with mass media”, “Russian school” and “Protecting the rights of compatriots” sections were also held.  A final resolution was adopted at the end of the work of the Council.
