On April 5, 2019, on Friday of the 4th week of Lent, Memorial Day of venerable martyr Nikon and his 199th disciples (251), His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts at the Dormition Cathedral in the city of London.
His Grace was assisted by Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, Archpriest Joseph Skinner, Dean of the Diocesan District of the South-West of England, Priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, Protodeacon Vadim Santsevitch and Deacon Viktor Ahryapin.
At the end of the Typica, the Right Reverend Vladyka and the serving clergy served the rite of veneration to the Honorable and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, after which the Cross was brought into the altar of the Cathedral.
After the prayer before the ambo, during the litia, the Archpastor and clergymen offered up their prayers for the newly departed Archpriest Dimitry Sever, a cleric of the Patriarchal parishes in Canada, Rector of the Pokrovsko-Kazan parish in Ottawa, who died a few days before.
At the end of the service, Vladyka Matthew addressed the clergy and parishioners with words of preaching and spiritual edification.
On April 5, E.N. Poplavskaya, acting churcwarden of the Dormition Cathedral of the City of London, Director of the Cathedral Parish School and Head of the Sourozh Diocese Religious Education Department, celebrated her 50th anniversary. Vladyka has warmly congratulated Elena Nikolayevna, noting her numerous achievements and many years of work for the benefit of the Church and, in particular, of the Cathedral, and, as a sign of appreciation and gratitude, presented to her a bouquet of flowers.
