« His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Liturgy at the Intercession Church of Manchester »

On November 16, 2019, on the feast day of Venerable Winifred of Trefinon (+630), His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the stavropegic Intercession Church of the city of Manchester.
His Grace was assisted by Priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh, sacristian of the Intercession Church of the city of Manchester, Archpriest Mikhail Nasonov, Dean of the Diocesan District of the Republic of Ireland, clergy of the Diocese of Sourozh.
After the prayer before the ambo, Vladyka has served a prayer glorification in front of the icon and a particle of the holy relics of Venerable Winifred, whose memory is celebrated on this day according to the Orthodox church calendar.  The reliquary with the holy relics of Venerable Winifred was brought from a Holywell chapel, where there is a holy spring next to the place of the martyr’s torment.
After the Divine Liturgy, Priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, sacristian of the church, addressed Vladyka with wellcome speech.  Father Dimitry warmly thanked Vladyka Matthew for the opportunity to pray together during the Liturgy, noted the many years of creative pastoral work that Vladyka Matthew carried out for a long period of time in the North of England, being Dean of this large region and, on behalf of the clergy and parishioners of the Intercession Church, presented holy panagia to Vladyka.
After the sermon and spiritual edification, His Grace, in commemoration of hard work for the benefit of the Church of Christ, awarded medals commemorating 100th Anniversary of the restoration of the Patriarchate in Russia to Archpriest Daniel Joseph, Rector of the parish of St. David of Wales of the city of Darby, and to Marianne Greenan, church warden of the Intercession Church.
