On October 17, 2019, His Grace Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, temporary Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA and Canada, took part in an extraordinary meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, chaired by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, at the Synodal Residence of the St. Daniel Monastery in Moscow.

At the meeting of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church, a statement was adopted on the situation in the Greek Orthodox Church after the Extraordinary Bishops' Council on October 12, 2019 on the issue of the Ukrainian church (Journal No. 125).
