On September 21, 2018, on the feast of the Nativity of Our Lady Most Holy Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary, a great consecration of the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Mother of God of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) took place in the city of London.
A significant event was attended by members of the Synod of Bishops of the ROCOR, whose visiting session was held a day before in London.
Archbishop Mark of Berlin and Germany, with assistance of Archbishop Kyrill of San Francisco and Western American, Archbishop Gabriel of Montreal and Canada, Archbishop Peter of Chicago and Mid-America, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, Bishop Irenei of Richmond and Western Europe and Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, consecrated the Cathedral.
After the order of consecration of the Church, His Eminence Metropolitan Hilarion of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia, headed the Divine Liturgy being assisted by archpastors and numerous clergy.
The service was attended by the clergy of the Dormition Cathedral of the Diocese of Sourozh - Archpriest Maxim Nikolsky, and priest Dimitry Nedostupenko, Secretary of the Diocese of Sourozh.
Consecration of the temple was attended by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent.
On this day, numerous parishioners were able to venerate the miraculous image of the Kursk-Root Icon of the Mother of God, specially brought to the celebrations from America.
After the Liturgy, Metropolitan Hilarion marked with ROCOR's awards votaries and those parishioners who especially contributed to the building and decoration of the temple.
Bishop Nikolai of Manhattan consecrated a cross-monument, erected in memory of the 100th anniversary of the tragic death of the Royal Passion-Bearers.
