« Pupils of the parish school at the Dormition Cathedral in London stage a Christmas Performance »

With the blessing of Archbishop Elisey, on 8th January, the Sunday after the Nativity of Christ, a charity performance of “In the Light of the Christmas Star” was staged by the children's parish school of the Dormition Cathedral in London. The play was held in the concert hall of the Royal College of Music.

The show was based on the story “Holy Night” by F. Lagerlöf. It spoke of the great joy which embraces the whole of creation at the birth of the Divine Child, and before which even the hardest heart cannot remain unmoved.

Throughout the play there were performances of classical music by Tchaikovsky, Sviridov and Sergei Rachmaninov, together with ancient Russian Christmas carols.

Following the performance Archbishop Elisey greeted the participants and spectators and wished all a happy Christmas. The Archbishop gave special thanks to the organizers of the play - the teachers of Children's parish school at the Dormition Cathedral, and he gave the participants - the students of the school - the first issue of the new Orthodox children's magazine "The Sparrow."

After the show all the young members of the audience received Christmas gifts.

All money raised from ticket sales was given for the support of children with cancer who are being treated in a Harley Street Clinic.
