« Pan-Orthodox Vespers took place in London at the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God »

On 13th March, Feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, a Pan-Orthodox Vespers was celebrated in London. Archbishop Gregorios, Ruling Hierarch of the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain and Bishop Athanasios of Tropaeou (Patriarchate of Constantinople) arrived at the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God of the Diocese of Sourozh and were hosted by Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh and Archbishop Anatoly of Kerch, Suffragan Bishop of the Diocese of Sourozh. Clergy of the Patriarchates of Constantinople, Antioch, Moscow, Serbia, Romania and Bulgaria and of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia gathered at the Holy Altar. The singing of several choirs in their native languages - Greek, Georgian, Arabic, Church Slavonic, and Romanian – beautified the service.

The sermon by the Hieromonch Nicholas (Sakharov) from the Monastery of St John the Baptist in Essex was devoted to the meaning of the Feast of Triumph of Orthodoxy. The joint singing of the Prayer of the Lord “Our Father” by the choirs and the entire congregation in the English language, common to all, symbolised the unity in Orthodoxy of those gathered.

A Lenten Meal was offered to the congregation after the service.
