« The Pastoral Committee of the Pan-Orthodox Bishops' Assembly Meets at the London Cathedral »
The second meeting of the Pastoral Committee of the Pan-Orthodox Assembly of Bishops with Churches in the British Isles took place at the Cathedral on Monday 14th February. The function of the committee, which is chaired by His Eminence Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh, is to advise the Bishops' Assembly on matters of pastoral concern to the Orthodox faithful and to organise Pan-Orthodox events.
The main item on the agenda was the annual Pan-Orthodox Vespers which has been held in London for more than 30 years. It was decided that it would take place this year at 6pm on Sunday March 13th at the Cathedral of the Dormition and All Saints, Ennismore Gardens. The committee also discussed the organisation of similar events in Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin.
The Bishops' Assembly had proposed that a Pan-Orthodox clergy conference should be held and the committee discussed how this could be prepared.
Some important pastoral topics, such as preparation for Holy Communion and mixed marriages were prepared for further discussion at the Pan-Orthodox level.
