« The Patriarchal Parish of the Protection of the Mother of God in Manchester adopts its Statutes »
On the 9th January, Archbishop Elisey celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Patriarchal stavropegic parish of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin (the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God) in Manchester, at which he greeted the parishioners in the name of His Holiness, Patriarch Kirill on the occasion of the feast of Christmas.
After the Liturgy, there was a meeting of the Parish Assembly, which adopted the Statutes of the Patriarchal Parish of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin on the basis of the Model Statutes of a Stavropegic Parish of the Russian Orthodox Church and sent them to His Holiness the Patriarch for approval. The Parish Assembly also elected the Parish Council for a new term, with a new membership, under the presidency of the Dean of the Parish, Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh.
The consecration of the Patriarchal Church of the Protecting Veil of the Mother of God is due to take place on the first Saturday of the Great Fast – 12th March, 2011.
