« Clergy meeting of the Diocese of Sourozh took place at the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God »
On 11th September, day of commemoration of the Beheading of St John the Baptist, at the Cathedral of the Dormition of the Mother of God in London, the Divine Liturgy was concelebrated by almost all the clergy of the Diocese of Sourozh who complete their pastoral service in the territory of the United Kingdom and Ireland. The Liturgy was celebrated by Archbishop Elisey of Sourozh together with Archbishop Anatoly of Kerch. In his sermon and greeting address Archbishop Elisey called the clergy to follow the courage in the ecclesiastical service and devotion to the Truth of God in the name of which St John the baptism suffered.
After the Divine Liturgy an ordinary meeting of the clergy of the Diocese of Sourozh took place. Some questions of the pastoral practice connected with the performance of the sacraments of Confession, Communion, Baptism and Marriage were discussed at the meeting. On of the issues of the Agenda was the attitude of the Russian Orthodox Church to the modern liberal flows in the Anglican community, which was expressed in the address of Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations of Moscow Patriarchate, at Lambeth Palace on 9th September.
