« Bishop Elisey of Sourozh celebrated a moleben at St. Alban’s shrine »

On the 20th of June the Right Reverend, Bishop Elisey of Sourozh, celebrated a moleben at the shrine of St. Alban, the first British martyr, in the town of St. Albans, which is named after the Saint. The service was conducted in both English and Church Slavonic languages. Among those present at the moleben were priest Stephen Platt, the Secretary General of the Fellowship of St Alban and St Sergius and the Rector of St. Nicholas parish in Oxford.

The shrine of the first martyr is located in one of the largest Anglican Cathedrals in the Great Britain. The relics of the Saint were taken to the territory of the present Germany in the 9th century and only in 2002 a small part of the relics was given back by a Catholic archbishop of Koln. The relics are available for public veneration on the days of special Feasts and during religious services.

In his trip reverend the Right Reverend Bishop Elisey was accompanied by protodeacon Dmitry Nedostupenko from the London Cathedral.
