« Pan-Orthodox Vespers was celebrated in London on the Sunday of the Triumph of Orthodoxy »
A traditional Pan-Orthodox Vespers at which representatives of Local Orthodox Churches gathered took place in London. This year the Vespers was celebrated at St George’s Antiochian Cathedral in presence of the Diocesan Bishops: Archbishop Gregorios of Thyateira (Patriarchate of Constantinople), Metropolitan John (Archdiocese of Western and Central Europe of the Patriarchate of Antioch), Bishop Elisey of Sourozh (Moscow Patriarchate), Assistant Bishops, clergy, and laity.
Two choirs of the Constantinople Patriarchate, the choirs of the Cathedral of the Diocese of Sourozh, of the Serbian Orthodox church and of the Antiochian Cathedal sang Vespers in Greek, English, Church Slavonic and Arabic. The Creed was read by the congregation in Greek and English. After the service, the guests of St George’s Cathedral were invited to a Lenten meal.
Next year the Serbian church will be host to the Pan-Orthodox Vespers in London.
