Report of the Holy Synod regarding the release of clergy to the Ecumenical Patriarchate

Listened:
The report of the Right Reverend Metropolitan Cyrill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad, the chairman of the Depatment of External Church Relations, about the application, which came from the Right Reverend Archbishop Gabriel of Komana, the administrator of the Exarchate of Parishes of Russian Tradition of the Constantinople Patriarchate in Western Europe.

In its session on the 21st of August 2007 (journal № 68) the Sacred Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church has considered the application, which came from the Right Reverend Archbishop Gabriel of Komana, about granting a release letter for the transfer into the Exarchate administered by him to archmandrite Simeon (Kossek), a cleric of the Diocese of Korsun. The Sacred Synod had resolved that this question can be considered after the final settlement of the position of the clerics of the Diocese of Sourozh, accepted earlier into the Exarchate of Parishes of Russian Tradition of the Constantinople Patriarchate in Western Europe without adherence to the established canonical procedure.
On the 23rd of September 2007 the Right Reverend Archbishop Gabriel had appealed to the Hierarchy of the Russian Orthodox Church to grant release letters to the mentioned clerics of the Diocese of Sourozh. The Right Reverend Archbishop Innokenty of Korsun has reported an absence of objections from his side about granting release letters to these clerics, as well as to archmandrite Simeon (Kossek).
RESOLVED:
1. To grant release letters for the transfer into the Constantinople Patriarchate to the clerics of the Diocese of Sourozh:
- Archpriest Alexander Fostiropoulos;
- Archpriest Patrick Hodson;
- Archpriest Edwin Hunt;
- Archpriest John Lee;
- Archpriest John Marks;
- Archpriest Mikhail Fortounatto (supernumerary cleric)
- Hieromonk David (Gill);
- Priest Patrick Radley;
- Priest Alexander Williams;
- Priest Nicanor Wilkins;
- Priest Seraphim Vänttinen-Newton;
- Protodeacon Peter Scorer;
- Deacon Stephan Maikovsky;
- Deacon John Musther;
- Deacon Alexei Nesteruk;
- Deacon Ian Thompson;
- Deacon Ian Wallis.
2. To grant a release letter for the transfer into the Constantinople Patriarchate to the cleric of the Diocese of Korsun, Archmandrite Simeon (Kossek).
