From Diocese of Sourozh
A meeting of the clergy of the Diocese of Sourozh has taken place in the London Cathedral
Saturday, 1st September, 2007
These quarterly clergy meetings have become an accepted part of the life in the diocese, and afford the clergy the opportunities to address the agenda arising from the rapidly-changing situation in the diocese. The meetings are traditionally preceded by a diocesan liturgy, in which all the clergy present participate as guests of the Cathedral parish.
The clergy meeting which took place on Saturday 1st September in the Cathedral of the diocese was chaired by Bishop Elisey of Bogorodsk. After his report on the current situation in the diocese, the bishop invited each member of the clergy to talk briefly about church life within the parishes. This was followed by a lively discussion relating to pastoral work in the context of contemporary society.
The meeting addressed, among others, some pressing issues arising from the need for Orthodox priests to exercise their ministry in a non-Orthodox environment, ongoing preparations for the 2008 Diocesan Conference, as well as other matters.
