Launch of new Diocesan web site

This news item was posted on 26th April 2007.

The Diocese of Sourozh is happy to announce the launch of its new web site this week. The Diocese's web site offers a new design and layout, together with new content, fuller features, and new means of interaction with its on-line materials.

New features

In addition to its new layout and design, the Sourozh web site also offers new features. These include a message forum for communication between members of the diocese and other visitors; a 'Bishop's blog' for news and reflections directly from the bishop; a photo gallery containing photographs from the life of the diocese and its parishes; an expanding collection of liturgical resources to aid with the celebration of the divine services (including our own diocesan translation of the Divine Liturgy of St John Chrysostom); and other interactive resources.

A new News from the Diocese section offers up-to-date information on news and activities throughout the diocese as a whole. The most recent items from the news section are featured in a special section of the front page of the site.

Additionally, the new web site contains updated and extended resources on the diocese itself: an interactive map of parishes in the UK; information and photographs of our Diocesan Clergy; information on the organisation and administration of the diocese; and a newly re-designed web site for the diocesan cathedral in London.

Our new web site also features more extensive materials about the Orthodox Church and the Orthodox heritage in the United Kingdom. Our section on The Orthodox Faith contains a catechism of Orthodoxy; there is a section with information on the Diocese's patron saint, St Stephen of Sourozh; a separate section describes some of the major British Orthodox Saints; and a section addresses the heritage of our diocese's founder and spiritual father, Metropolitan Anthony of Sourozh.

Multi-lingual

Continuing our past practice with on-line materials, the diocese's new web site is fully multi-lingual. While the English version is being launched a few weeks in advance of the Russian version, the final site will present all its materials in both languages, each updated frequently with new content.

An update on the Russian version (27 April 2007): We have begun placing the new Russian version of the site on-line today. To view it, simply click the Russian flag link under the top banner of every page.

An update on the Russian version (1 May 2007): The Russian version of the site is now on-line in its entirety, and the web site is wholly bi-lingual throughout.

On-line presence

The new web site replaces the older version, which had been on-line for some years.

The diocese is committed to maintaining an up-to-date, resourceful on-line presence for the furtherance of its mission and the aid of communication within the diocese.
